Free risk assessment & COSHH template

Risk assessments and COSHH records are the paperwork that gets written the week before an insurance renewal and never looked at again. That's the wrong way round — they exist to make you think about the job before someone gets hurt, and insurers and commercial clients increasingly ask to see them.

This template gives you the structure a UK assessment normally takes: the hazards on the site and who they affect, the control measures you've put in place, every substance you use with its hazard statement and PPE, and the emergency arrangements.

The COSHH section is the one people skip. If you're using anything stronger than a general-purpose cleaner, its safety data sheet tells you exactly what to write in there.

Assessing a specific job? The end-of-tenancy checklist is a good starting point for the tasks you're assessing — and a signed job sheet is your record that the controls were actually followed.

Hazards and control measures

List every hazard the job presents, who it affects, how likely it is and what you have done to reduce it. Review this before each job — a form filled in once a year protects nobody.
